BIO
Mariano Alvarez is a Sound Designer, Sound Artist and researcher in the field of Audiovisual Sound.
He holds a degree in Social Communication from Faculdades Integradas Alcântara Machado, a Master's degree in Communication Sciences (Media Studies and Media Production) from the Universidade de São Paulo, under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Eduardo Mendes and attended the Doctorate program in Audiovisual Communication and Advertising at the Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona, under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Angel Rodriguez Bravo. He worked as a professor at Anhembi Morumbi University and created the course "Sound Design for audiovisual projects" for the international knowledge platform "Domestika".
He has participated in several Masterclasses with several renowned professionals in the world of Sound Design, such as Walter Murch, Ben Burtt, Randy Thom, David Yewdall, Frank Serafine, Craig Henighan, Frank Kruse, Nicolas Becker, Norman Roger, Tin Nielsen, Peter Albrechtsen.
Since 2000, he has worked in the audiovisual as a sound editor, sound supervisor, and sound designer on over 30 projects, including feature films, short films, series, and television programs.
He has worked in many projects for important companies in our industry. Such as "O Roubo da Taça" and "Porno para Principiantes" for Netflix (Brazil and Uruguay), "PSI" for HBO, "Na Fama e na Lama" for Globosat, "Família Imperial" for Disney Channel, and "Organ & Co" for Televisión Pública Argentina.
He has also collaborated on several independent and authorial projects, such as "1.99" by Marcelo Masagão, "Saudosa Maloca" by Pedro Serrano, "Estação Liberdade" by Caito Ortiz, "Caminhos" by Heloisa Passos, "Donkey Xote" by José Pozo, and "Lunatique" by Gabriel Mucci, among others.
Those projects have been nominated for the Emmy Award, Grand Prize of Brazilian Cinema, Gramado Film Festival, Goya Award, New York Film Festival, SXSW Film Festival, Aruanda Film Festival, ABC Award, and São Paulo International Film Festival.
